Roles Of The Department

1. Formulate and review policies;
2. Monitor and evaluate policy implementation;
3. Ensure security of fuel supply to the nation;
4. Administer petroleum industry affairs;
5. Monitor Petroleum State Enterprises and Parastatals;
6. Facilitate and monitor the implementation of national liquid fuel projects;
7. Promote the development and use of alternative fuels e.g. CBM, LPG, natural gas;
8. Create an enabling environment for the complete indigenisation of the petroleum sector;
9. Promote the development and use of biofuels; and
10. Prepare the Ministry‘s Senior Management Meetings and reports.
